KIEV, May 15. /TASS/. Only 158 out of 300,000 school-leavers in Ukraine have demonstrated excellent command of the Ukrainian language in the standardized external testing at Ukrainian schools in May, Igor Likarchuk, the director of the knowledge testing centre, said on Friday.
"Only 158 out of 300,000 school-leavers have proved to have excellent knowledge of the Ukrainian language and literature," he said. "As many as 19% of school-leavers have elementary-level knowledge of Ukrainian." More to it, more than 23,000 school-leavers have failed the test in the Ukrainian language and literature.
"Only 158 schoolchildren out of 300,000 have managed to score 200 points in the basic-level test. It is a mere 0.06% of the overall number of the test takers. It is very sad. And only 12 people scored the maximum number of points - 104 - in the professional-level test. Only twelve people in entire Ukraine," Likarchuk said.
