Death toll in shooting spree at Seoul military camp rises to two

SEOUL, May 13. /TASS/. A soldier has died in hospital after being injured in a shooting spree at a training camp for reservists in South Korea’s capital Seoul earlier on Wednesday, the country’s Defence Ministry has said.

Now the death toll as a result of the incident has reached two people, including the shooter, while three other soldiers have been wounded. One of them is in hospital in a critical condition.

The incident occurred at around 10.44 a.m. local time (0144GMT) at a military camp in Naegok-dong, southern Seoul, when a solider opened fire on his colleagues during the training. "Four people were wounded, two were hospitalized in a critical condition. The shooter committed suicide," the ministry said.

South Korea has mandatory military service. Conscripts undergo tough trainings and are often subjected hazing by older soldiers.
