Belarusian president sends from Moscow greetings to war veterans

MINSK, May 9. /TASS/. Belarus has a big celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Key events are organised in the capital city - Minsk. President Alexander Lukashenko in the morning laid a wreath to the Victory monument and spoke to veterans there.

"I am happy to forward to you from Moscow regards from all our friends, from Russian leaders," he said. "Like I promised yesterday on departure, I am forwarding to the veterans all the best wishes from Russians."

"On this sacred day, we are full of special gratitude to the fighters, to those who worked in the rear and who won freedom and independence to our Motherland in the war with Nazism."

A parade in the city will feature over 5,000 military and about 250 military vehicles.

Fireworks will finish the celebrations.
