KIEV, May 8. /TASS/. Membership in NATO is among Ukraine’s top priorities, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Yevgeny Perebeinos said on Friday.

"The issue of joining NATO is among our priorities. Our current task is to achieve standards and compatibility with the alliance," he told the Ukrainian television Channel 5.

According to the foreign ministry spokesman, the issue of Ukraine’s filing a request for NATO membership would be put to a national referendum.
