Ukrainian authorities plan to draft 100,000-150,000 people into the army in 2015

KIEV, May 7. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko by his decree has extended the spring army draft period by one month, the website of the Ukrainian head of state reports on Thursday.

Ukrainian authorities plan to draft 100,000-150,000 people into the army in 2015. On March 25, President Poroshenko signed a decree to increase the number of the country’s army personnel to 250,000.

In addition to mobilization, it is planned to call up more than 20,000 people during the spring draft. According to the government executive order, as many as 21,126 people will be drafted in the Ukrainian army during this period.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry said on May 5 that the planned demobilisation of the military servicemen who are staying in the zone of the military operation in the east of the country would begin on May 15.
