TEHRAN, May 9. /TASS/. The Maersk Tigris cargo ship has received permission to leave the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, IRNA news agency said on Thursday.
"An informed source in the Organization of Ports and Navigation of Iran said several minutes ago that the Maersk ship has been released today," IRNA said.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said earlier that the Marshall Islands-flagged ship seized by Iran "will be released after a financial dispute is settled between the ship’s owner and Iranian company Pars Oil Tala'eyeh Products."
On April 28, Iran seized the Maersk Tigris cargo ship belonging to Denmark-based Maersk Line Shipping company in the Hormuz Strait. The ship stayed in Iran’s port of Bandar Abbas in the Persian Gulf after a legal complaint was filed by Iran’s Pars Oil Tala'eyeh Products company against Maersk Line Shipping, demanding a $10 million compensation.
