KIEV, May 6. /TASS/. The Ukrainian authorities have notified the Russian Embassy in Kiev of the detention of Russian citizens in Ukraine, who are accused of subversive activities, press officer of the Russian diplomatic mission in Ukraine Oleg Grishin told TASS.
"Late last night, the Ukrainian side finally notified the Russian Embassy in Kiev of the detention of Russian nationals by Ukraine’s law enforcement bodies. Currently, the consulate personnel provides all necessary legal assistance to the detainees. Their lives and health are out of danger. The incident is under the control of the embassy’s leadership," he said.
On Tuesday, head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) Valentin Nalivaichenko said that four Russian nationals had been detained in Ukraine over the past five days. Kiev says they are suspected of subversive activities. Nalivaichenko disclosed the names of the three detained men - Zharnikov, Smirnov, Chernykh and also of one woman - Kamius.
