LONDON, May 2. /TASS/. Prince William's wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a daughter, the Kensington Palace announced on Saturday.
"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well," it wrote on Twitter.
"The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth," the message says.
The Duchess of Cambridge "was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am [0734 GMT]," less than three hours after she was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, in Paddington, west London.
The baby was born later than expected. Kate earlier said the second child was due in mid-April or in late April. As a result, people started gathering outside the hospital since early last month even despite the cold weather.
The baby princess becomes fourth in line to the throne, pushing Prince Harry down to fifth.
