UNITED NATIONS, April 25. /TASS/. Iran will be invited to consultations on Syria to start in early May in Geneva, United Nations Secretary General’s envoy Staffan de Mistura said on Friday after a closed-door meeting of the United Nations Security Council.
He reminded that Iran was a member country of the United Nations and an important player in the region enjoying influence of the Syrian developments. So, he said, the United Nations and he himself had all the rights to invite that country.
