Simultaneously, coal miners have gathered for a picket outside the Ukrainian parliament demanding payment of wage arrears and resignation of Energy Minister

KIEV, April 23. /TASS/. Participants of an anti-corruption rally have blocked the ring road around Ukraine's Kiev, the press service of the city police said on Thursday.

"The traffic on the highway has been partially blocked. Police are trying to solve the situation and calm the aggressiveley minded citizens," the statement said. The protesters are citizens of the Kiev Region.

The rally has already caused a traffic jam despite the measures taken by police.

Simultaneously, coal miners have gathered for a picket outside the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, in Kiev demanding payment of wage arrears and resignation of Energy Minister Vladimir Demchishin.

Another 4,000 people blocked Grushevsky Street in downtown Kiev demanding a "European quality of life" for Ukraine and Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk's dismissal, a TASS correspondent reported on Thursday.

Kiev police earlier said that around 2,000 people had come for a rally outside the building of the city administration and announced "certain demands." Traffic was blocked on Khreshchatyk, the main street of Kiev.
