BEIJING, April 17. /TASS/ Chinese journalist Gao Yu has been jailed for seven years in prison for leaking state secrets, a Beijing court said on Friday.
"Gao Yu broke the law by disclosing top secret information to a third party. The defendant is sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment and one-year political disenfranchisement," the court ruling says.
The 71-year-old veteran journalist was arrested in April 2014 and accused of transferring secret Communist Party documents abroad. In 1994, she was sentenced to six years in prison on similar charges.
