Fire breaks out in east Ukraine’s Donetsk industrial zone

MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. A large fire broke out in a district of Donetsk, the biggest city in eastern Ukraine, the Donetsk news agency said on Sunday, citing city administration officials.

Ivan Prikhodko, head of the Kievsky and Kuibyshevsky districts’ administration, said people living in the Grabari settlement of Donetsk’s Kuibyshevsky district claimed they had heard a loud bang similar to an explosion. But local authorities can neither confirm nor deny the information so far.

"We cannot approach the scene of the fire. There is thick smoke," Prikhodko said, adding that the fire hit the site of a chemical works.

The Emergencies Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic said there was no threat to the public.
