Village in east ukraine shelled by forces not controlled by Kiev — Russian envoy

The situation will not change until Kiev has replaced battalions it can't control with regular army units

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The village of Spartak, near the ruined Donetsk airport, has come under fire about 80 times over the past 24 hours, Russia’s representative in the Joint Control and Coordination Centre, Colonel-General Alexandr Lentsov, has said.

"Spartak was attacked 80 times over the past 24 hours. Most of the shellings were by battalions not subordinate to Kiev," the Donetsk news agency quotes him as saying. "The situation will not change until Kiev has replaced them with regular army units."

Earlier, the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk republic said that the Ukrainian armed forces late Thursday night and on Friday morning mounted a massive fire attack with tank guns against militias’ positions in the village of Spartak from the village of Avdeyevka, adding that provocations by Ukrainian military had begun on Thursday in daytime.
