This year’s first death of militiaman in Ukrainian custody reported — Donetsk officials

The Ukrainian side failed to provide documentary evidence of the militiaman’s death

MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. The first case of a militiaman’s death in Ukrainian captivity has been reported in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), spokesperson for the Commission for Prisoners of War Liliya Rodionova said on Wednesday.

"We’ve received a report of the first death in Ukrainian captivity this year. The case in point is the death of our prisoner of war in the Kharkiv branch of the State Security Service of Ukraine," a Donetsk news agency quotes her as saying.

Rodionova added that the Ukrainian side failed to provide documentary evidence of the militiaman’s death.

Aside from that, DPR still has no information on discovering the body of another militiaman who died in a Ukrainian pre-trial detention center last September.

"The Security Service of Ukraine conceals the facts of violent deaths of our prisoners of war. Forensic scientists write in their reports that these people died of pneumonia," Rodionova said.
