MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet later this week with participants in the intra-Syrian consultations that opened in Moscow on Monday, Vitaly Naumkin, the director of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Oriental Studies, told TASS.
"Such meeting will take place," said Naumkin, who is a moderator of these consultations.
He said it was premature to try to forecast possible results of this meeting. "We will try to achieve some result," he noted.
Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told journalists a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with participants in the intra-Syrian consultations currently underway in Moscow was not ruled out.
"Such meeting is not excluded. Its date has not yet been appointed," he said. "The meeting will be held behind closed doors. The date will depend on the minister’s schedule."
This week, Moscow is hosting a second round of intra-Syrian consultations. The first round was held in Moscow in January 2015.
