Russia hopes law on Donbass special status does not fail settlement - minister

The stages of settlement in Ukraine are to a big extent tested due to the well-known law about a special status for certain districts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, Lavrov said

BRATISLAVA, April 4. /TASS/. Russia hopes the changes the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) made to the law on the special status for Donbass will hot cause failing of the Minsk agreements, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a news conference on Saturday.

"The stages of settlement in Ukraine are to a big extent tested due to the well-known law by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine about a special status for certain districts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. It contradicts the Minsk agreements," he said. "We hope very much this will not provoke failing of those most important agreements.".
