Martial law lifted in Thailand

Martial law was imposed nationwide on May 20, 2014, two days before a military coup, which brought to power current Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha

BANGKOK, April 1. /TASS/. Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej has approved a request of the country's prime minister to lift martial law, local television reported on Wednesday.

"We have lifted martial law across the country," the government said in statement.

Martial law was imposed nationwide on May 20, 2014, two days before a military coup, which brought to power current Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.

The coup was staged after months of street protests in Bangkok, Thailand's capital.
