Russia suggests int’l humanitarian convoy be sent to eastern Ukraine

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. Russia’s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has come out with an initiative to send an international humanitarian convoy to eastern Ukraine, head of the Russian delegation Nikolai Kovalev, who took part in a seminar in Germany on the experience of settling conflicts in border regions, told TASS on Sunday.

"The subject of humanitarian convoys was raised" during the discussions," he said. "Participants agreed that it was necessary to involve the International Committee of the Red Cross."

"The Russian delegation suggested the issue of a possible international convoy to Donbass, a region facing an utter humanitarian catastrophe, be discussed," he underscored.

"It is not just Russia’s task to help those who need essential things, such as to provide children with food. It is the task for entire European society," he said, adding that participants in the seminar had agreed "to think how to realize this idea.".
