EU and Cuba may reach agreement by end of 2015 — EU foreign policy chief

In April 2014, Cuba and EU launched talks on signing a bilateral agreements. The sides have already held three rounds of talks, the latest at the beginning of March

LONDON, March 25. /TASS/. EU and Cuba may agree on normalizing relations by the end of 2015, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said on Tuesday.

"We decided today to speed up the rhythm of our negotiations, hopefully to manage to finalize the framework of our dialogue and agreement by the end of this year," Reuters quoted Mogherini as saying.

Mogherini is on an official visit to Cuba aimed at improving bilateral ties and advancing dialogue on normalizing ties between Brussels and Havana. Cuba is the only Latin American country that does not have a bilateral agreement on cooperation with EU. Since 1996, relations between Havana and Brussels have been strained.
