Russian foreign minister: attempts to organize state coup in Venezuela inadmissible

Moscow hails the Venezuelan government’s "efforts to promote national dialogue, national accord with the constructive opposition"

HAVANA, March 24. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday any attempts to interfere into Venezuela’s domestic affairs and the United States’ sanctions against Venezuelan citizens are inadmissible.

"Russia and Cuba have reiterated their solidarity with the people of Venezuela, with the legitimate authorities of that country. We consider any attempts to interfere into domestic affairs of that state, illegal sanctions imposed by the United States against a number of Venezuelan citizens inadmissible," Lavrov told journalists during his visit to Havana.

He stressed that "attempts to organize a state coup are inadmissible." "We hail the Venezuelan government’s efforts to promote national dialogue, national accord with the constructive opposition. We believe that a mediatory mission of the Union of South American Nations (USAN) may play a useful role in this process," he said.
