MOSCOW, March 20, /TASS/. The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh must be resolved, first and foremost, by regional forces, and Iran can render assistance in this issue, Iran’s former Foreign Minister told reporters on Friday.
"Iran and Russia are neighbors, we share many common interests," said Kamal Kharrazi, who is the director of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations. "Cooperation between Iran and Russia in resolving the South Caucasus problems is the natural right of the two countries."
According to the diplomat, "the stand-off between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been going on for many years." "We must exert every effort to resolve it, above all, by regional forces," he said. "We have ample opportunities in this respect — they can contribute to resolving the issue."
