MOSCOW, March 5 /TASS/. Diplomatic sources have noted concern over a US warning that an offensive by forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad against so-called moderate opposition rebels would open the door for an American strike on Syrian government troops.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday that the final destination for weapons sent by Washington and its allies to militants termed moderates was as topical as ever.
"Against this background, statements from Washington that a possible offensive of Assad forces against the moderate Syrian opposition would open the door for a US attack against government forces are a matter of concern," Lukashevich said.
