MADRID, February 27 /TASS/. Searches are underway at the apartments of eight Spaniards suspected of fighting in Ukraine’s restive Donbas region, sources at the Spanish Interior Ministry said on Friday.

Earlier, the ministry reported that police had arrested eight Spanish nationals in six regions across the country, who returned from eastern Ukraine.

The detainees are accused of possession of weapons and explosives and complicity in homicide, the sources said.

According to Spanish media, a group of Spaniards who went to eastern Ukraine called themselves "adversaries of capitalism" fighting against "the new Nazi threat in Europe."
