Russia has no reasons to doubt that Fidel Casto is alive — deputy foreign minister

The former Cuban leader regularly writes comments on all international issues and there are absolutely no reasons to even speculate on the topic of his death, Russia's deputy foreign minister says

MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Russia has no reasons to doubt that Fidel Casto, leader of the Cuban revolution, is alive, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in an interview with three news agencies on Friday.

"We regularly read all those materials that comandante Fidel Castro writes on all, I stress it, all international issues without exception," Ryabkov said. "I have absolutely no reasons to even speculate on this topic. Just none," he said.

Fidel Castro has not appeared on public for a long time, and the last photo with him is dated back to August 2014. At the beginning of 2015, several media wrote about Castro’s possible death. The speculations were denounced at the end of January — Fidel Castro wrote an open letter to Cuban students. In the letter, he said he "still does not trust the US policy."
