MOSCOW, February 25. /TASS/. Ukrainian servicemen shelled a motorcade of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Defense Ministry, the ministry confirmed Wednesday.
"A motorcade of the Defense Ministry vehicles was shelled from the direction of positions of Ukrainian servicemen," it said. "Fire was delivered from an antiaircraft system from the direction of the air terminal’s radar station, there is no information on those wounded yet," the Donetsk news agency quoted the ministry’s statement.
DPR Defense Minister Vladimir Kononov was also riding in the motorcade. "Everything is fine with the minister, he was not injured, he was riding an armored personnel carrier," the statement said.
Earlier Wednesday, media reported that Kononov’s motorcade was shelled near the Donetsk Airport.
The Ukrainian army opened fire when the vehicle of the minister and escort vehicles were leaving the airport.
Kononov said fire had been delivered from the direction of the city of Avdeyevka by an antiaircraft system and three tanks.
