Russia’s natural gas supplied to south-east Ukraine via alternative route — PM Medvedev

Despite all assurances that they Kiev is ready to restore the supplies, gas deliveries using the standard scheme have not been restored and no gas is being supplied to Donbas, the Russian PM says

MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. The self-recognized Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics are receiving Russian natural gas via an alternative route after the Ukrainian authorities halted standard-mode deliveries to the territories, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday.

"Despite all assurances that they [the Ukrainian authorities] are ready to restore the supplies, gas deliveries using the standard scheme have not been restored and no gas is being supplied to the territories of the unrecognized republics," the Russian premier told a Security Council meeting shown on Rossiya 24 TV Channel.

"Considering that gas is not being supplied via the customary route, supplies have been organized via an alternative route," the premier said.

"At present, gas is being supplied and consumed in necessary volumes on the territory and in the areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," the Russian premier said.
