West pushed Ukraine to conflict supporting Kiev’s force actions - Russian ambassador to UN

"It was the decision of Kiev, supported by certain Western countries, to suppress by force discontent of people living in the east," he said

UN, February 18. /TASS/. Western countries have pushed Ukraine to beginning of the armed conflict by having supported Kiev’s force actions against own citizens, Russia’s Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said on Tuesday.

"What has triggered the armed conflict we witness now? It was the decision of Kiev, supported by certain Western countries, to suppress by force discontent of people living in the east. Those, who did not agree, were put on fire in Odessa, or shot dead in Mariupol; a military operation was launched against the people living in Donbass; the authorities began pulling heavy weapons there, and so forth," he said.
