KIEV, February 15. /TASS/. Alexander Zavarov, a famous Soviet and Ukrainian football player and now an aide to the chief coach of the Ukrainian national football team, has refused to be involved in the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, the Tribuna.com website said on Sunday.

According to last week’s reports, Ukraine’s Football Federation received 89 call-up papers, one of which was issued to Zavarov, who is now 53.

"I can say only this: I will never fight where my family, my children live, where my parents are buried. That’s all I have to say," he said. "I just want peace".
