MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. Three repair workers of Donetsk railway were killed and two more were gravely wounded in mortar fire from a check point of Ukrainian law enforcement troops on Monday, reported the press service of the transport ministry in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republi.

The report said a team of six repair workers had been sent for repair work at the Yasinovataya-Skotovataya railroad haul, the only railway route for raw product supplies between Ukraine and the Donetsk People’s Republic. It has been destroyed and restored more than 20 times since the start of warfare in the east of Ukraine.

According to the self-proclaimed republic's transport minister Semyon Kuzmenko, Ukrainian military stationed at a nearby check point had repeatedly seen people in railway uniform and had been warned that they were unarmed workers.

However, they opened precision fire after the workers started repairs, the press service said. The ministry will appeal to a mission of observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to investigate the shelling and take measures.
