BRUSSELS, January 22 /TASS/. The quartet of international brokers for the Middle East settlement (Russia, the United States, the United Nations and the European Union) will meet in Brussels at the level of special representatives on January 26, a source at the European External Action Service told TASS on Thursday.

"We confirm that the Quartet’s representatives will meet in Brussels on Monday at the EU invitation," the service said. UN secretary general’s official spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said last week that the Quartet’s representatives were scheduled to meet in Brussels on January 26.

The Mideast Quartet’s representatives will search for ways of cooperation with other parties concerned to make a positive contribution to the Middle East peace process and Gaza’s reconstruction, the European External Action Service said, adding that in November last year the EU Council had urged all the parties concerned, including the Quartet, the League of Arab States (LAS) and the UN Security Council to take urgent steps to bring back the sides to the negotiating table.
