Ukrainian bombers deliver air strike at Gorlovka - DPR head

“In the evening, Ukrainian bombers dropped 500-killogram air bombs on Gorlovka. It was not targeted bombing because of clouds, they just dropped bombs on the town,” Alexander Zakharchenko said

DONETSK, January 18. /TASS/. Ukrainian bombers delivered an air strike on the town of Gorlovka, head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko said on Sunday.

“In the evening, Ukrainian bombers dropped 500-killogram air bombs on Gorlovka. It was not targeted bombing because of clouds, they just dropped bombs on the town,” he said, adding that more than 30 people, including children, were either killed or wounded in this air strike.

‘For several weeks we have been trying to prove that Ukraine’s military were using the truce to realign their troops in order to get prepared for a large-scale offensive. But our appeals with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe /OSCE/ and the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination /JCCC/ were not heard,” Zakharchenko said. “JCCC representatives today had a chance to feel the scale of Ukraine’s artillery strikes on themselves,” he said obviously referring to the Sunday’s incident when JCCC representatives had come under fire near Gorlovka.

“Ukrainian army’s attempts to avenge for the defeat of last autumn have failed,” he stressed. “All of Ukraine’s six attack on the airport backed by intense artillery fire were rebuffed by the self-defence forces,” Zakharchenko said. “I can say that Ukraine’s attack on the airport has failed. Today we have to push the enemy from the settlement of Peski, from where Ukraine’s artillery shelled the Donetsk airport and the city every day.”.
