DPR head: Kiev uses truce in Donbass to realign its forces and build up arms

“At the moment, living quarters of Donetsk and Luhansk are being heavily shelled from large-calibre Grad and Uragan missile systems,” Zakharchenko said

DONETSK, January 18. /TASS/. Kiev has used truce in Donbass to realign its forces and considerably build up heavy weapons, head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic /DPR/ Alexander Zakharchenko told TASS on Sunday.

“At the moment, living quarters of Donetsk and Luhansk are being heavily shelled from large-calibre Grad and Uragan missile systems,” he said. “Kiev is seeking to avenge for the major defeat from Donbass self-defence forces last year.”

“Kiev has always ignored numerous proposals to pull out heavy weapons from the disengagement line,” the DPR leader stressed. “It is just another Kiev’s attempt to unleash a war.”

Earlier on Sunday, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, Yuri Biryukov, said the Ukrainian military had been ordered to open heavy fire at the positions of militias in the zone of the force operation in southeastern Ukraine.

Later, the DPR confirmed that the city of Donetsk had been shelled from all types of weapons by the Ukrainian troops.
