BERLIN, January 14. /TASS/. NATO seeks no confrontation with Russia and will continue to look for ways to develop cooperation with Moscow, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Wednesday after talks in the German capital with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

NATO is for political cooperation with Russia, Merkel said. According to the German Chancellor, NATO’s security policy in Europe is not targeted against Moscow. She said the West would continue to look for ways of improving co-operation with Russia.

However, the observance of the fundamental principles, in particular, respect for territorial integrity of other states is required for this, Merkel said.
