KIEV, January 13. /TASS/. Both men and women liable for military service may be drafted into army during a mobilization campaign in Ukraine, first deputy chief of the main department for defense and mobilization planning at Ukrainian General Staff Major General Vladimir Talalay told a news conference on Tuesday.
“According to the legislation, men liable for military service aged from 25 to 60 years and women liable for military duty aged from 25 to 50 years may be recruited in the army,” Talalay said, adding that women will be drafted in the military forces “if necessary.”
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council decided on December 20, 2014 that a fourth stage of mobilization campaign will begin on January 20 and another two drafting campaigns will be held in April and June. Around 50,000 are planned to be drafted into the army during these call-up campaigns. Ukrainian citizens are being summoned to take medical examinations and register at military commandant’s offices. Summons will be sent after parliament has decided to start the next stage of mobilization.
