Incumbent president of Croatia admits his defeat at presidential election

He congratulated opposition candidate Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on the victory

BELGRADE, January 12. /TASS/. Croatia’s incumbent President Ivo Josipovic has congratulated his rival - opposition candidate Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic - on victory in the second round of the presidential election.

“She has won in a democratic competition,” said Josipovic, adding that the victory was won “by a small margin.”

The incumbent head of state wished Grabar-Kitanovic “to be a good and successful president of the Republic of Croatia.” Josipovic thanked more than 1 million of voters who supported him in the election and also expressed gratitude to his family.

According to the Croatian Central Election Commission (CEC), with 99.42% of the votes counted, Grabar-Kitanovic has got 50.42% of the vote and Josipovic - 49.58%
