Russian rescuers take part in operation to recover tail of crashed AirAsia plane

Work will be continued on Saturday, January 10

MOSCOW, January 9. /TASS/. Russian rescuers and Indonesian specialists join efforts to pull out of the water the tail section of the AirAsia plane that crashed into the Java Sea on December 28, the head of the Russian emergencies ministry’s team working in Indonesia said.

“All preparations for that technically difficult operation have been finished today on board the [Indonesian] Crest Onyx ship, and an attempt was made to raise the tail part of the fuselage,” Eduard Chizhikov said.

Work will be continued on Saturday, January 10, as weather conditions have deteriorated and a storm disrupts the operation.
