DONETSK, January 1. /TASS/. The New Year night passed without any shootouts in Donetsk, a conflict-torn east Ukrainian city, the city authorities told the Donetsk news agency.
“The New Year night passed to the sound of fireworks in Donetsk, military actions were not waged,” the mayor’s office said, noting that “the situation is calm in the city at 9am local time (6am GMT) on January 1.”
The Donetsk authorities added that all life-supporting systems in the city operated in routine mode. “Public transport vehicles are running fully according to the holiday schedule,” the Donetsk mayor’s office noted.
