Total of 25 Russian tourists injured in road accident in Thailand, says embassy

BANGKOK, December 30. /TASS/. A total of 25 Russian tourists received injuries when a bus transferring them from the airport on the Thai island of Phuket slid off the road and overturned, Vladimir Sosnov, the chief of the consulate department at the Russian embassy in Bangkok, told TASS.

“The tourists’ injuries are not severe,” he said. “All the injured have been hospitalized, but we don’t have lists with names so far.”

Sosnov quoted preliminary reports as saying the total number of the injured was 27. It included two Thai nationals who had been escorting the tourists and whose injuries had been described as severe ones.

Eyewitnesses of the accident said a bus with the Anex Tour logo aboard collided with a small car. It slid off the road after the collision and overturned.

The overall number of tourists inside it was 37.
