Austria, Hungary, Italy, France stand for improving relations with Russia — EU diplomat

The review of the EU sanctions against Russia will be discussed at the regular meeting of EU foreign ministers on January 19

BRUSSELS, December 23. /TASS/. Austria, Hungary, Italy and France stand for improving relations with Russia, a EU diplomat told TASS on Tuesday.

The review of the EU sanctions against Russia will be discussed at the regular meeting of EU foreign ministers on January 19, the diplomat said.

Earlier, spokesperson for the EU foreign policy chief Maja Kocijancic said the meeting in January would focus on forming a common European strategy towards Russia.

On December 18, European Council President Donald Tusk said the EU intended to work out a common position towards Russia.

The position should be pragmatic and without any ideology, Tusk said.

“We will not find a long-term solution for Ukraine without an adequate and consistent, both tough and responsible, strategy toward Russia,” Tusk said.
