KIEV, December 15. /TASS/. As many as 917 Ukrainian army servicemen have been killed and another 3318 have been wounded in eastern Ukraine during Kiev's military operation, official representative of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Viktoria Kushnir said at a briefing on Monday.

On December 11, a representative of Ukraine's National Defense and Security Council said 1052 Ukrainian servicemen had been killed in the military operation.

The total death toll of the conflict in eastern Ukraine ammount to over 4000 killed on both sides of the conflict, including the civilian population of the region.

The Kiev authorities launched a military operation in mid-April against militias in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions to regain control over the territories that sought independence.

The parties to the Ukrainian conflict agreed on a ceasefire at talks mediated by the OSCE on September 5 in the Belarusian capital Minsk. The ceasefire took effect the same day but has been reportedly violated.
