Kazakhstan’s president, China’s premier discuss economic cooperation

The sides also discussed key issues of trade-and-economic, investment, energy and transit cooperation

ASTANA, December 14. /TASS/. Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Sunday met with China’s Prime Minister Li Keqiang, currently on an official visit here, the press service of the Kazakh head of state reported.

“We have met with China’s President Xi Jinping more than once to discuss many issues of further cooperation between our states. These contacts stem from concrete economic ties, the most important of which have been formed in the energy partnership,” the press service quoted President Nazarbayev as saying.

“Today, a larger part of Kazakhstan’s oil is produced with participation of Chinese companies,” Nazarbayev said, adding that transit oil pipelines were running via Kazakhstan. “We do joint work on the construction of an interstate trading centre Khorgos, rail and motor roads to ensure transit via our country. In this context, we support the Chinese president’s initiative to revive the Silk Road, to set up a fund and a bank for infrastructure projects.”

The sides also discussed key issues of trade-and-economic, investment, energy and transit cooperation, the press service said. Apart from that, they exchanged views on pressing issue of international agenda.
