WASHINGTON, December 11. /TASS/. The US Navy said a laser gun placed at floating base Ponce in the Persian Gulf passed all tests successfully. The power of a pilot model of the laser gun is 30 KW, its development took seven years and cost $40 million, Rear Admiral Matthew Klunder said on Wednesday.

The weapon was tested against all types of targets, including rapidly and slowly moving, stationary, large and small, in different weather, including after a sand storm, Klunder said. He noted that the laser gun, a fire range of which was not disclosed, had not been used in military action.
