The state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Kim Yo-jong, who is believed to be 27, has been appointed as vice-director of a department within the Central Committee of the Workers' Party.
Kim Yo-jong is the only North Korean leader’s relative to have an official job within the North Korean government.
Kim Kyong-hui, the sister of late leader Kim Jong Il, also held the senior party position. But she has not been seen since her husband, Jang Song-thaek, was executed last December.
According to some data, the younger sister of the North Korean leader studied in Switzerland. Earlier, South Korea’s media circulated reports saying she took senior positions in banks and run several projects in tourism and railways.
