Poroshenko considers Minsk talks basic format for peaceful settlement in east Ukraine

KIEV, November 21. /TASS/. The Minsk talks are the basic format for the peaceful settlement in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said at a meeting with US Vice-President Joseph Biden on Friday.

“We came to agreement that the Minsk format was the basic format for the peace process. The implementation of the Minsk plan is indispensable for ensuring peace in Ukraine,” Poroshenko said. The Minsk format “can harmonize all parties”, he said.

Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said the Geneva talks on resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine were “one of the most acceptable” formats. “We consider that the Geneva format is the most acceptable to settle the crisis in Ukraine despite many tested formats, both unilateral and multilateral,” Yatsenyuk said.
