VIENNA, November 20. /TASS/. North Korea should not conduct new nuclear tests, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Organisation (IAEA) Yukiya Amano told a news conference on Thursday, commenting on reports alleging that such tests are possible in the near future.

North Korea should comply with the UN Security Council resolutions and so it certainly should not conduct nuclear tests, he said.

Many reports have appeared recently suggesting that preparations are underway for new missile tests in North Korea.

Russian Foreign Minister Dergey Lavrov on Thursday said the reports need verification. “Such claims should be backed by facts, not by media allegations,” Lavrov said.

Russia proposes in this connection to resume the activity of the working group on the Korean Peninsula security issues. “We hope that the partners will support this proposal,” the foreign minister said.
