Luhansk Republic parliament speaker re-elected

Alexey Karyakin was approved by a vote of 41 out of 43 deputies registered at the meeting

LUHANSK, November 17. /TASS/. Alexei Karyakin remains Speaker of the People’s Council (parliament) of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic.

He was approved by a vote of 41 out of 43 deputies registered at the meeting. Two abstained.

The speaker pledged to do everything for the parliament to work for the good of the republic’s people and support the policy approved by voters.

Deputies to the new parliament, 35 from the movement Peace to Luhanshchina (Luhansk region) and 15 from the Lugansk Economic Union, were elected on November 2. The list of the movement was headed by LPR leader Igor Plotnitsky, Prime Minister Gennady Tsypkalov and parliament chairman Karyakin.

The list of the Economic Union was headed by a candidate for the post of LPR head, the leader of the Federation of Trade Unions, Oleg Akimov.
