GENEVA, November 13. /TASS/. International medical humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) said on Thursday that it will begin clinical trials in three Ebola treatment centers in West Africa in December.

The trials have been endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and will prioritize informed consent from patients or their representatives.

“We need to keep in mind that there is no guarantee that these therapies will be the miracle cure,” said Doctors Without Borders spokesperson Dr. Annick Antierens. “But we need to do all we can to try the products available today to increase the chances of finding an effective treatment against Ebola.”

The French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, the Antwerp Institute of Tropical Medicine and the University of Oxford will take part in the trials. Preliminary results could be available in February 2015, the organization said.
