Nine suspected Islamists detained in Germany

About 1,000 people in Germany support Islamic terrorism, and 230 can carry out a terrorist attack in the country in the future, the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany said

BERLIN, November 12. /TASS/. Nine people have been detained in Germany’s Cologne and its suburbs on Wednesday on suspicion of supporting Syrian Islamists and “planning illegal actions that pose threat to national security,” the local police reports.

The alleged Islamic radicals are suspected in helping jihadists get from Germany to Syria and providing financial support. All of the detained men are German citizens, aged 22-58.

According to sources, eight of them are from Muslim families with German citizenship, while one of them is a Pakistani national.

Moreover, flats of around 20 suspects were searched in Cologne and its suburbs.
