Donetsk shelling, fighting by Ukrainian authorities violate Minsk and Geneva agreements

The Kiev authorities fail to comply with the Minsk agreements and the Geneva statement, says the Russian permanent representative to the OSCE Andrey Kelin

VIENNA, November 6. /TASS/. The shelling of Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, and the Ukrainian authorities’ fighting in the area of Yasinovataya town violate the Minsk and Geneva agreements on the Ukraine settlement, Russian permanent representative to the OSCE Andrey Kelin said on Thursday.

“Today we’ve raised the question of failing to comply by the central authorities in Kiev with the Minsk agreements, both the protocol and the memorandum, and the Geneva statement in all its parts,” he said.

“This also concerns today’s tank attacks on the town of Yasinovataya and the shelling as a result of which boys in Donetsk were killed,” Kelin said.

“We also called for conducting a thorough investigation into this shelling,” he added.

No details on the tragic event are available yet from the OSCE and its Special Monitoring Mission. “I can’t say. There is no information,” Kelin said.

In its report of November 5, released on Thursday, the OSCE Mission had no information on the shelling of the school. The document only says the Mission heard “what appeared to be intensive, intermittent, incoming shelling throughout the day in the northern outskirts of Donetsk, close to the airport”.

However, the Special Monitoring Mission told TASS that a separate report would be prepared on this incident. The Mission said its team was on the site of the incident, talked with eyewitnesses and inspected the area.
