Venezuela sends third humanitarian aid package to Palestine

On its way back to Venezuela, the plane is expected to take 100 young Palestinians to Caracas who are willing to study in Venezuela’s universities

CARACAS, November 3. /TASS/. The government of Venezuela has sent to Palestine the third humanitarian cargo since August which consists of 50 tons of food, medicines, clothes, shoes and tents.

On its way back to Venezuela, the plane is expected to take 100 young Palestinians to Caracas who are willing to study in Venezuela’s universities. In October, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said up to 1,000 Palestinians will study in universities in the country’s capital.

Venezuela and Palestine maintain close political and social and economic relations.

In May, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas paid a third visit to Venezuela and signed an agreement on deliveries to Palestine of 240,000 barrels of Venezuelan oil and diesel fuel.

The sides also signed an agreement allowing Palestinians and Venezuelans to avoid double taxation.

A total of 134 member states of the United Nations have recognized the State of Palestine by late October. Palestine was officially acknowledged by Venezuela in April 2009.
